The process of Gilgit-Baltistan government formation has been delayed as the Election Commission has not yet issued the gazette notifications for the successful candidates. According to sources, the delay in issuing the notifications has slowed down the next steps required to establish the new government.

Sources said that the Election Commission has yet to publish the official notifications of the winning members. The allocation of reserved seats can only begin after these notifications are issued, making them a crucial part of the government formation process.

They further explained that the allocation of reserved seats will require three days once the gazette notifications are released. The assembly cannot be fully constituted until this process is completed.

Under constitutional requirements, gazette notifications must be issued within 14 days of the election. The 14-day deadline following the Gilgit-Baltistan elections will be completed on June 21, raising concerns over the ongoing delay.

Meanwhile, independent candidate Nek Nam Karim, elected from GBA-6 Hunza, has joined the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP). According to the Election Commission, he submitted a formal confirmation of his decision to join the party to the Chief Election Commissioner. Political observers believe this development could influence the ongoing Gilgit-Baltistan government formation process.
